Postgraduate students at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) are set to pay noticeably more from the 2026/2027 academic session. A fee schedule from the School of Postgraduate Studies Accounts Unit, titled “Proposed FRRS for Postgraduate Students Effective 2026/2027 Academic Session”, compares the 2023/2024 charges with the new ones. Almost every category for Nigerian students goes up, with some first-session fees rising by more than 60%. Fees for foreign students are unchanged.
The document is labelled “proposed”, so students should confirm the final figures with the School of Postgraduate Studies or the Accounts Unit before making payments.

What Students Should Do
- Confirm the final figures. The schedule is described as a proposal, so check with the Postgraduate School or Accounts Unit.
- Plan early. The new rates take effect with the 2026/2027 session, so budget now, especially if your programme includes an oral examination.
- Ask about the dual figures. Some categories list two amounts, and the schedule does not say what determines which applies.
- Look into support. Explore scholarships, grants, research assistantships and other funding that could ease the burden.
